Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today said theagency will form a cybersecurity workforce task group that willconsider strategies such as expanding DHS involvement in cybercompetitions and university programs, enhancing public-privatesecurity partnerships and working with other government agencies todevelop a more agile cyber workforce across the federal government. "Toaccomplish this critical task, we have created a number of verycompetitive scholarship, fellowship, and internship programs toattract top talent," Napolitano stated.
In addition to protecting [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] civilian government networks, DHS alsoworks with owners and operators of critical infrastructure to helpthem secure their own networks by conducting [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] risk assessments anddeveloping plans to mitigate risks. Last year, the US ComputerEmergency Readiness Team, part of DHS' 24-hour watch and warningcenter, responded to more than 106,000 incident reports, andreleased more than 5,000 [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] cybersecurity alerts and informationproducts to public and private sector partners, Napolitano said.
